Margot Slattery, country president, Sodexo Ireland was among 25 of Ireland’s most influential and powerful women acknowledged for their achievements by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) Awards on Thursday 16th June 2016 in Dublin.  She was presented with an award in the Trailblazer category, alongside Mary Fitzgerald, the Irish Times’ foreign affairs correspondent and Professor Emeritus Mary McKenna Lawlor, director of Space Technology Ireland.

Every year the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) identifies and celebrates the outstanding work of 25 Irish women.  These are women who, by their success, encourage others to follow, be ambitious and to succeed.  The Trailblazer category recognises those who have ignored boundaries and burst through barriers.  Each winner is the first or only Irish woman to achieve such a notable accomplishment.   Winners may have furthered the cause of other women through their work, or they may have established a precedent for others to follow.

Commenting on her achievement, Margot Slattery said, “I am very honoured to have received this Award.  I have always tried to be authentic, to be true to myself and be a role model in my professional life. I work for an organisation that values me and my contribution and supports me unreservedly because they understand that an inclusive work environment is key to attracting the best talent to your business. I hope my personal journey will inspire other women and men to bring their whole selves to work.”

Sherri Stevens, CEO, the Women’s Executive Network, said, “This year’s winners are true leaders in their field.  We are proud to be a part of the continued conversation around the success of professional women. The 2016 Award winners are a testament to the value of women across various different Irish sectors and we congratulate them on their achievements over the last year and looking to the future”.
