Sodexo and MSD Ireland took part in  ‘Embracing Diversity, Career and Personal Branding’  event that was hosted in MSD’s Dublin office on Monday, October 23, 2017, and saw nearly 100 attendees receive insights and guidance on how to create, build and maintain a career and personal brand.  The speakers included Ger Brennan, MD of MSD Ireland (Human Health) and Margot Slattery, country president, Sodexo Ireland, who shared learnings from their own extensive career paths as well as highlighting the importance of bringing your true self to work and building and maintaining a network and creating your personal brand with a view to continuously advancing in your chosen career.  Both business leaders also emphasised the importance of diversity in the workplace and the benefits this can bring to businesses nationwide.

Speaking at the event, Ger Brennan, MD of MSD Ireland (Human Health) stated, “We were delighted to partner with Sodexo today to host this unique event and feel it brought real benefit to the attendees.  MSD is committed to promoting diversity across our business both globally and in Ireland.  Our company recognises the benefits diversity brings to the workplace and the fact that a diverse workforce helps us to do what we do, better.  I am a firm believer in the concept of “bringing yourself to work” as I believe it’s crucial that people can be themselves, celebrate their differences and similarities and focus on the benefits that they bring to the larger team.”

Margot Slattery, country president, Sodexo Ireland, also said, “Some years ago, I was among a group of 12 people who helped frame and plan a strong business case for the establishment of a global LGBT network within Sodexo.  I wanted to help make a difference and change the lives and opportunities for people wanting to be out in their workplace. I wanted to remove fear and be part of an inclusive workplace and organisation and for my company to be at the leading edge in this respect.  Our case was successful, and we now have seven Sodexo Pride LGBT networks globally, including one for the UK and Ireland. We strive to create a sustained and accepting environment that will improve the quality of life of all our employees, our clients and their communities.”
