Sodexo and Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust won the Working in Partnership Award at the 2015 Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals Awards.

The Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals (AHCP) National Awards, held this year in Nottingham, recognise the talent and contribution made to healthcare cleaning in the UK.

This Working in Partnership Award is given to the organisation that demonstrates where a valuable partnership has been developed and integrated seamlessly to meet the organisations’ goals, in particular improving the patient environment experience.

Sodexo was successful in this category for its implementation of its ‘cleaning matters’ boards, a patient-focused communication tool that helps to instil confidence that cleanliness is a top priority at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT).

Patient feedback highlighted the need to understand what happens on their hospital ward relating to the cleaning regime.

Sodexo’s cleaning matters boards clearly break down the information patients require into just four areas, all written from a patient perspective. The boards detail the importance of cleanliness; what cleaning activity they will experience whilst a patient and who the cleaning team are. They also provide a feedback tool for those patients who wish to discuss the services provided. Judges were impressed with Sodexo’s patient-centred approach at CMFT in implementing this information.

Sharon Salmon, FM improvement team manager, facilities department, Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The cleaning matters boards introduced in all our wards and departments allow our patients to access information regarding the  services they can expect from Sodexo whilst a patient at Central Manchester. By using photographs of Sodexo staff who work on this site, Sodexo are demonstrating how proud they are of their workforce and the level of service they provide.”
