The shortlist has been announced today (13 April) for the Women’s Professional Football Association awards in association with Sodexo.

The winners of the Women’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the Women’s PFA Young Player of the Year will be unveiled at the PFA Awards on 23 April in London.

Sodexo UK & Ireland has strong links with professional football, and a clear focus on gender balance.

The Sodexo Sports & Leisure portfolio includes provision of retail, hospitality, sales and conference services at the stadiums of Everton FC in the Premier League, and Newcastle United FC and Brighton & Hove Albion FC in the Championship.

Sodexo also has contracts with the National Stadium of Northern Ireland at Windsor Park in Belfast, the Scottish national stadium Hampden Park, and with Aberdeen, Dundee and Dundee United.

Chris Bray, CEO Sports & Leisure, Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “We’re proud to sponsor the Women’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year and Women’s PFA Young Player of the Year which complements our existing partnerships in professional football and our commitment to gender balance.

“We wish all the nominees the very best of luck.”

At last year’s PFA Awards Chris Bray, CEO Sports & Leisure, Sodexo UK & Ireland, presented Izzy Christiansen with Women’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year (pictured) and Beth Mead with Women’s PFA Young Player of the Year.

Sodexo is committed to gender balance in the UK and Ireland, and has been included in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women since 2014.

In November last year, Sodexo published its gender pay gap of 7.65 per cent – less than half the Office of National Statistics UK-wide figure of 18.1 per cent – and ahead of the Government legislative requirement.
