Where our food comes from

Sodexo’s sustainable procurement policy focuses on sustainability, seasonality and provenance. Sodexo is a significant purchaser with more than 4,300 suppliers, so it is essential to develop trusting, mutually beneficial, long-term relationships to guarantee the quality and safety of products across our supply chain.

We respond to client and customer expectations through our values by promoting purchasing policies that increase the use of environmentally sound and ethically sourced products. We encourage our suppliers to share our ethical principles and procurement commitments. As such, we expect them to comply with our supply chain code of conduct, which covers human rights, business ethics and environmental management practices.

In Ireland our approach to sustainable supplies includes sourcing products that meet industry marques and partnering with local suppliers. We believe that, wherever possible, we should purchase fairly traded and ethically sourced products. This ensures better trading conditions for producers and helps us build lasting relationships with global suppliers that have sustainable business.

Sodexo’s sustainable procurement policy focuses on sustainability, seasonality and provenance. We continually review our logistics arrangements in order to reduce delivery miles.

Sodexo Ireland are proud to be one of the only contract catering organisations to work with suppliers whom are members of the Bord Bia Quality Assurance Scheme. This ensures we provide all Irish meats, eggs and potatoes to our customers nationwide.

Sodexo are early adapters of the Origin Green programme, which unites government, the private sector and food producers through Bord Bia. We are actively building our 5 year strategy with Bord Bia and we are committed to making sustainable improvements to our food supply system during this time.

Sodexo have additionally engaged in a partnership with Good Food Ireland. The partnership provides us with the opportunity network in an arena of working with local artisan and supports suppliers activities throughout the year.

Food safety: an absolute priority

When it comes to food service, safety is a non-negotiable.

Not only this, but we are committed to the sustainable and ethical sourcing of food outlined above, and reducing our impact on the environment by reducing food wastage, managing water consumption and energy in line with our Better Tomorrow 2025 corporate responsibility plan.

For our consumers and clients, safe food service is a matter of trust. That’s why Sodexo puts significant resources toward food safety and food safety training. All of our operations comply with recognised industry food safety standards. Our food safety standards and systems are designed to ensure high quality safe food and service, and prevent incidents.
