The Oasis Academy Short Heath, Erdington, girls’ football team welcomed Birmingham City Ladies star Jess Carter for a training session on Wednesday (14 March).

Jess is the current PFA Young Player of the Year in association with Sodexo, the provider of catering services at the school.

The girls’ team, made up of pupils from years five and six, took shooting and dribbling skills with Jess, who also took part in a practice match.

Oasis Academy Short Heath PE Co-ordinator, Chris George says: “The girls have been superb all season - not only have they displayed their excellent ability, but they showed great teamwork and a determination of spirit in every game.”

“We were thrilled to welcome Jess Carter to the Academy as reward, and the girls had a great time meeting and training with a footballer who they so admire.”
