At a glittering ceremony in London last night, Sodexo’s own legal eagles were named the In-house Commerce & Industry Team of the Year at the Lawyer Magazine Awards 2012.
Dubbed the industry’s “Oscars”, the Lawyer Awards celebrate the very best in the profession across private practice, the public sector, commerce and industry and the Bar.
The Lawyer was the first legal magazine to put together a senior advisory judging panel taken from the great and the good in City institutions and the media. The combination of this and The Lawyer’s own research, claims the magazine, “has made these Awards the most comprehensive and incisive reflection of the commercial legal market” and “the most sought after trophies in the law”.
This year’s judging panel included legal experts from the Financial Times, United Biscuits, Valiant Petroleum and Fujitsu.
The Sodexo team received the award at a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel hosted by comedian Jason Manford. Sodexo’s success was heightened as a record number of entries for the 2012 Awards were received.
Of the achievement, Gareth John, general counsel for Sodexo’s UK and Ireland, said: “We are delighted to have won the best in-house team award as we were up against very tough competition. I am very proud of the team - they work so hard for our company and deserve the recognition.”
