Sodexo, a leading FM services provider, has signed a franchise deal with the SUBWAY® brand to introduce the high street name to its retail offer.

The SUBWAY® brand has been chosen as a partner organisation for Sodexo at sites with large volumes of customers, who value a variety of food outlets, including high street brands, such as universities, hospitals and military bases.

Sodexo has already opened SUBWAY® franchises at Brunel University in London and Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. It will open another at The Defence School of Transport, based at Normandy Barracks, Leconfield, East Yorkshire, in the autumn.

The SUBWAY® brand holds similar values to Sodexo: it is committed to providing a wide range of great tasting, fresh food choices and is a fellow signatory to the Government’s Public Health Responsibility Deal endorsing its pledges on calorie labelling; calorie reduction; salt reduction; removal of trans fats; and improving access to fruit and vegetables.

Michelle Hanson, commercial director, Sodexo UK and Ireland, said: “We aim to offer our clients and customers as much choice as possible and to respond quickly to their needs. We appreciate that people like the option of having high street brands on site and the SUBWAY® brand is a good fit for us offering fast, freshly prepared sandwiches including healthier, low-fat options. This is very important to us because of our commitment to nutrition and wellbeing and promoting a healthy lifestyle for our employees, clients and customers.”

Trevor Haynes, area development manager for the SUBWAY® brand UK & Ireland, said: “SUBWAY® stores come in all shapes and sizes and can be found just about anywhere. The simple operations, alongside minimal space and equipment requirements, mean that our stores are uniquely suited for a whole variety of sites.

"The SUBWAY® brand is keen to develop nontraditional locations in partnership with successful companies just like Sodexo. This form of growth will be an integral part of the franchise’s development, overall expansion and on-going strategy over the next five years in the UK and Ireland.”
