Sodexo, a leading provider of on-site service solutions, has formed a partnership with Dingley Dell Pork to provide sausages and loin joints for its independent schools menus.

Dingley Dell is made up of three pig farms in Suffolk where animals are reared to the RSPCA’s Freedom Food standards.

Brothers Mark and Paul Hayward established Dingley Dell in 1999 on their farm in the Deben Valley. Their pigs are kept outside, in natural surroundings and a care free environment.

Sodexo provides food services to independent schools across the UK. It believes in providing fresh and creative food which nourishes and maintains the health and wellbeing of the children it serves.

Over 95 per cent of the dishes produced each day are made from scratch from the freshest, most seasonal ingredients, sourced from sustainable accredited suppliers, which is reflected in this new partnership with Dingley Dell.

Tom Allen, executive development chef with Sodexo’s Independent Schools division, said: “We already understand the importance of buying British meat but with this new partnership we are taking that a step further. By buying Dingley Dell sausages and loin joints we are buying from three farms, all within a 25-mile radius of each other. We can’t just name the farm source … we can name the pig.”

“A lot of the dishes on our schools’ menus have recently changed to ensure that we are incorporating Dingley Dell Pork into our recipes, giving our students the taste sensation and quality they deserve.”

Mark Hayward said: “It’s fantastic to see that our outdoor pork production system – which focuses on taste, welfare of the animals and looking after the environment – has been recognised by both Sodexo and top independent schools, and myself and Paul look forward to our sustainable partnership"
