Eight sites managed by Sodexo were recognised with merits at the 57th annual International Safety Awards last month.

Among the winners were three prisons run by Sodexo Justice Services; HMP Forest Bank, HMP Northumberland and HMP Peterborough; three Sodexo Healthcare sites; Central Manchester University Hospitals, University Hospital South Manchester and Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Sodexo Remote Sites in Aberdeen and Sodexo’s One Southampton Row office in London were also among the winners named at the London ceremony in April.

Sodexo’s sites were recognised for their competence in implementing the UK and Ireland’s health and safety management system and were awarded merits after careful adjudication by an independent panel of chartered health and safety professionals.

Held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, the awards ceremony celebrates the success of those organisations that are committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of their employees. The event combined formal award presentations and a three course, fine dining experience with an evening of live entertainment.

Chris Dark, head of health and safety for Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised with awards of such prestige across so many of our sectors. These awards are testament to the high standards that have been implemented right across Sodexo, though health and safety is an area we must never be complacent in. Receiving external recognition such as an International Safety Award reinforces that Sodexo’s employees have the right attitude and approach to health and safety and that makes me immensely proud. However, our priority to drive health and safety improvement everywhere we operate remains a fundamental business priority.”
