Sodexo has won a four-year facilities management contract with Northumbria University, Newcastle.

The £500k per year deal will see Sodexo provide a range of FM services at the university’s brand new 993-bed student accommodation at Trinity Square, Gateshead.

Reception, helpdesk, energy management, mechanical and electrical maintenance, cleaning and horticultural services are among those to be managed by Sodexo at the site from September 2014.

Northumbria University is a research-rich, business-focused university with a global reputation for academic excellence. It is one of the largest universities in the UK with more than 33,000 students from 135 countries. In 2013, it received its highest number of applicants and is currently ranked within the UK’s top 10 for the number of graduates entering professional employment.

Matthew Garner, head of projects and programme management at Sodexo, said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with the largest university in the North East, delivering a wide range of services from technical services and capital works to landscape and soft services, as well as looking to fill a student ambassador role, all of which will enhance the quality of life for students at Trinity Square.”
