South Wales based food firm Tillery Valley was delighted to recently receive funding amounting to £175,000 from Skills Growth Wales.

The money, which is donated on the condition that it is put towards non-mandatory training for the development of employees, will be used to fund supervisorial and managerial courses and operational effectiveness courses. The training will be offered to the majority of staff and will help drive efficiency at Tillery Valley, Sodexo's prepared food business, which provides meals to the healthcare, education and local authority sectors from its site in Abertillery, Gwent.

A number of staff will also be offered the Prince Level Two qualification, which focuses on project management and the skills needed to complete major acquisitions and new projects successfully, and a strategic communications course, ensuring all teams are communicating with full effectiveness.

Commenting on receiving the funding, Rebecca Gwilliam, HR manager, Sodexo, said: “We were over the moon to receive such a fantastic sum of money and see it as a great opportunity. Staff have recently requested more training opportunities and while we have organised computer literacy courses and NVQs, nothing compares to this. This enables us to invest more in our people.”
